How to Download Bluesky Videos Without a Browser Extension
Skip the Chrome or Firefox extension and download Bluesky videos directly from your browser using a free web-based tool.
Most guides for downloading Bluesky videos point you toward a browser extension. Extensions work, but they ask for permissions, slow down your browser, and need regular updates. A web-based downloader skips all of that.
Why avoid extensions?
- Extensions request access to every page you visit
- They can be abandoned by developers and become security risks
- School and work browsers often block extension installation
- Mobile browsers (Chrome for Android, Safari on iOS) do not support extensions
A web-based downloader runs in a single browser tab with no persistent permissions.
How to download without an extension
Step 1 — Open the Bluesky post containing the video you want to save.
Step 2 — Copy the post URL. On desktop, use the post menu → "Copy post link." On mobile, use the share icon and select "Copy link."
Step 3 — Open the Bluesky Video Downloader in your browser.
Step 4 — Paste the URL into the field and click Download MP4.
Step 5 — Your browser saves the file. On desktop it goes to your Downloads folder. On iOS, the file opens in the Files app.
Does it work on all browsers?
Yes. The tool works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Brave on desktop. On mobile it works in Chrome for Android and Safari on iPhone and iPad.
