How to Download Bluesky Videos in Chrome
A step-by-step guide to saving Bluesky videos directly from Google Chrome without any extension.
Google Chrome is the most popular desktop browser, and downloading Bluesky videos from it is straightforward. You do not need to install any extension — a browser-based downloader handles everything.
What you need
- Google Chrome on desktop or Android
- The URL of a public Bluesky post that contains a video
Steps
1. Copy the post URL
Open the Bluesky post in Chrome. Click the three-dot menu on the post and select "Copy post link," or copy the URL directly from the address bar.
2. Open the downloader
Navigate to the Bluesky Video Downloader in a new Chrome tab.
3. Paste and download
Paste the post URL into the input field and click Download MP4. Chrome will prompt you to save the file — choose your downloads folder and confirm.
On Chrome for Android
The workflow is the same. Copy the post link from the Bluesky app's share menu, open this page in Chrome for Android, paste the link, and tap Download. Chrome will save the MP4 to your device storage.
Common issues in Chrome
Download blocked by Chrome: If Chrome shows a warning about the file type, click "Keep" to proceed. MP4 files from this tool are safe.
Pop-up blocked: Make sure pop-ups are allowed for this site if the download does not start automatically.
Why use a web-based downloader instead of an extension?
Browser extensions require permissions — often broad ones — and must be kept up to date. A web-based downloader runs entirely in a tab with no persistent access to your browser. It is a cleaner option for occasional use.
Public Bluesky posts are the only requirement. Private posts, posts with no video, and deleted posts cannot be downloaded.
