How to Download Bluesky Videos

A simple step-by-step guide to downloading videos from public Bluesky posts.

Bluesky makes it easy to watch and share videos inside the app, but it does not always make it obvious how to save a video file for later. A Bluesky video downloader gives you a quick way to save a video from a public post as an MP4 file without signing in.

This guide walks through the basic workflow.

What you need

You only need one thing: the public Bluesky post URL.

A supported link usually looks like this:

https://bsky.app/profile/example.com/post/3abc123xyz

The post must be public and it must contain a video. Private, deleted, or non-video posts cannot be downloaded.

Step 1: Copy the Bluesky post link

Open the post that contains the video you want to save. In Bluesky, use the post menu and choose the option to copy the link to the post.

On mobile, this is usually inside the three-dot menu. On desktop, you can also copy the URL directly from your browser address bar after opening the post.

Go to the Bluesky Video Downloader homepage and paste the post URL into the input field.

The tool checks the post, finds the attached video, and prepares the download options. You do not need a Bluesky account, browser extension, or app install.

Step 3: Download the MP4 file

When the video preview appears, click Download MP4. Your browser will save the original video file to your device.

The downloader streams the video through a server endpoint so the file is sent as a normal download instead of opening as a stream in your browser.

Can you download any Bluesky video?

You can download videos from public Bluesky posts when the video is still available from Bluesky's servers. The tool cannot download videos from private content, deleted posts, posts without video, or links that are not valid Bluesky post URLs.

If a link does not work, check that:

  • The URL starts with https://bsky.app/profile/
  • The post is public
  • The post contains a video
  • The post has not been deleted

Use saved videos responsibly

Downloading a video for personal reference is different from reposting, republishing, or using someone else's work commercially. Always respect the creator's rights and get permission before reusing downloaded content outside your personal use.

Summary

To download a Bluesky video, copy the public post link, paste it into the downloader, and save the MP4 file. The whole process is designed to be quick: no login, no watermark, and no extra software.
